Bloodbath: Breeding death
12/04/10 || Daemonomania
You all know the story of Bloodbath… Some kids from Sweden who dreamed big, got struck by lightning, knew that brutality came through simplicity, pitched a perfect game, and the rest is history. This is where it all started. The lads recorded this 3 track EP as a joke (check out the lyrics) and a way to remove some gothic eyeliner crusted on by their other more serious projects.
Despite all the attention “Breeding death” received, in reality it is pretty lackluster. Besides “Furnace funeral” and its pretty sweet attempt at mimicking the keyboard part from “Left hand path”. That’s good stuff. The other two tunes are about as anonymous as can be. Mid-paced grinding guitarwork with sloppy drums, CrAckyousmeldt’s top ten growl, and a curious lack of staying power.
Still, it announced to the world that Bloodbath was ready to bring back the old school bomb. A mission they quickly abandoned, so it appears. Ah well. Plenty of other bands are hard at work doing the same damn thing. In the great annals of retro-comeback Swedeathery, “Breeding death” (which is accomplished via necrophilia, in case you were wondering) is but a footnote. No one will ever top the first three Grave albums anyway. Three tracks, three paragraphs. Peace out. I’m gonna go listen to “Nightmares made flesh” instead.
